Use HTTPS on the TrepStar Cart Settings

Within the TrepStar Cart settings section in your TrepStar account, you can add custom HTML in the head, body, and footer sections of the TrepStar purchase page (buy now buttons / cart page).

Many people choose to include logo images, css, js, and any other valid HTML.

However, you must use https for any outside references other than simple a href links to other web pages.

Otherwise your customers will think that the purchase page is not secure!  They probably will not purchase from that page and certainly your sales will be lower than they could be.

If you've added http:// instead of https:// to any of the TrepStar custom HTML sections, you'll see a warning that brought you to this page.

If you see that warning, you should modify your links.   If you do not, your customer will see warnings like this (example from FireFox):

Even though you know your page is safe, your customer will not.  Here is more information about this issue.

Change your references to https://   If you don't have https on your server, create an account with amazon s3, put your files there, and link to those public https urls to customize your cart.

Look at this video explaining how TrepStar publishers may publish their large DVD iso files to Amazon S3 or to the TrepStar FTP page, but you can use the FREE amazon S3 service to upload and reference your image and other files via secure server.   Amazon S3 files are capable of  being served securely (https).    Once you have your files on S3, make them public, copy the public URL (which will be https) and use that in your cart settings on the TrepStar account.

Upload your large DVD iso or zip files to Amazon S3

TrepStar does enable you to upload any of your files directly to the TrepStar project or to our free TrepStar FTP folder, but if your files are already in the cloud, or if you would rather have more control, use AmazonS3.

Using Amazon S3 simple storage:

Click HERE to see a our video explains how you use Amazon S3, and how you make your .iso or zip file public and link it to your TrepStar project:

  • There will be exactly one file per TrepStar project disc.  Here is some more information on preparing files.
  • Locate your  iso (or zip)  file on AmazonS3 (I'm assuming iso or zip file).  \
  • Right-click on it and "Make Public".
  • Right-click on it again to get "properties".
  • You should see the public URL which will look something like. https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/a1techinc/MyDVDProjectDisc1.iso.
  • Right-click on that URL and choose copy link location.
  • In another browser window/tab, open your TrepStar project.
  • Scroll down to the "Data burned to disc" section and right-click paste that URL into the form.  Scroll down to save the form.

Retail Purchase page buttons improvements

We've recently updated the retail order purchase page with new enhancements.  If you use the TrepStar retail order pay now buttons, the payment process has been improved with new links to the "cart" and ways to easily edit customer inputs after they've entered some data.  The cart behaves more like other eCommerce checkout processes.

Burn Testing delays or expected wait times

Burn testing will be done for new or changed products.   Normally, this does not cause delays if the project does not have any errors.  If there are problems, you may need to fix the errors.  We will notify you by email.

The burn testing step is just one more thing we do during the course of normal manufacturing procedures:

1) You order a product

2) We manufacture normally along with all other products.

3) We look at a log of all projects that require burn testing and take a look at those which are burned to special test machines. We may take an extra business day to test and ship those (compared to normal orders).

4) There is no reason to get worried if it's taking an extra day or two.  Click here and scroll to the bottom section about Burn Test Verification status

Shopping carts and integration

As a new publisher of cds, dvds, books, or whatever you sell, you usually need to pick a shopping cart ecommerce solution to handle the purchase transactions.

You can use the TrepStar buy now buttons, but if you would prefer to collect the money yourself and have the orders automatically go into TrepStar, you need to pick, or switch to a shopping cart that makes this easy.

We have done a lot of research and have taken a poll of the most popular and useful shopping carts.  TrepStar officially recommends 1Shopping Cart.

  1. They are very feature rich and well trusted
  2. They integrate easily with TrepStar so orders taken on your site though the 1ShoppingCart system automatically submit orders to TrepStar so you do not have to manually fill out the TrepStar order form.

Spreadsheet of financials

We sometimes get asked "...I'm wondering if you have a way to download a spreadsheet of all our financials? We need to tally our records for taxes, and I couldn't find an easy way to do that on the Trepstar site."

We don't have financial spreadsheets yet, but you can:

  1. Click the recent orders button (from within your TrepStar account)
  2. Scroll to the bottom
  3. Enter a date range (such as last year)
  4. Click the [] Export search results... checkbox
  5. Make sure to check the [] Pricing Info box.
  6. The search results could be copied and pasted into your spreadsheet.  From there you can add column totals etc.
